Lab Members
Andrea Neumann
Lab Coordinator
Andrea joined the Eppert lab in May 2013 as a co-op student, where she helped set up the lab and establish the early projects alongside Héloïse. After returning for another two co-op terms in 2014, Andrea came back as Lab Coordinator in June 2015 and has been with us ever since. She keeps the lab running smoothly by maintaining the lab inventory, managing the lab finances and supporting the trainees in their projects. In her free time, Andrea enjoys salsa dancing and watching soccer as she continues her perpetual quest for Montreal’s best bubble tea.
Heather Duncan
PhD Candidate and Volunteer
Heather began her PhD in Experimental Medicine in the Eppert lab in January 2015. Her research has focused on the role of G-protein coupled receptors in leukemic stem cells and intercellular communication between leukemic cell populations via extracellular vesicles. She enjoys contributing to the research environment and student life through leadership in various committees. Her hobbies include painting, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors.
Meaghan Boileau
PhD Candidate
Meaghan joined the Eppert lab in the summer of 2015 as a Master’s student in Experimental Medicine and fast-tracked into the PhD program in 2016. Her areas of research include identifying compounds that target leukemic stem cells and understanding the role of epigenetic disruption during leukemogenesis. Outside of the lab, she enjoys playing ringette, watching hockey and eating good food.
LeRon Best
MSc. Student
LeRon joined the Eppert lab in September 2019 as a Master student in Experimental Medicine. His project focuses on discovering drugs that will effectively target leukemic stem cells and improve AML treatment. He has a special interest in drug development. In his free time he enjoys listening to music and spending time with his family.
Hassan Dakik
Postdoctoral Fellow
Isabella Iasenza
PhD. Student
Isabella joined the Eppert lab in September 2018 as a Master student in Experimental Medicine and fast-tracked into the PhD program in 2020. Her project focuses on developing novel therapeutics that target leukemic stem cells in AML. Her interests are medicinal chemistry, cancer and biochemistry and when she is not focused on science, she enjoys to travel.
Hassan joined the Eppert lab in February 2020 as a post-doc fellow in pediatrics. His project focuses on investigating the effect of co-occurring epigenetic mutations in leukemogenesis. Outside of the lab, Hassan enjoys reading science and science-fiction books, nature photography and traveling.
